George Brecht's "WATER YAM" first appeared in 1962 (Fluxus Editions, Wiesbaden and New York). Second and more complete e dition: Fluxus NYC, 1964. Third edition of 100 copies (signed and numbered): Daniel Templon, Paris, 1972. Fourth edition: Parrot Impressions, Surbiton/Surrey (UK). Fifth edition of unlimited: Lebbeer Hossman, Brussels and Hamburg. This Japanese edition (eight edition) of 100 copies (numbered) is published by GALLERY 360 DEGREES, Tokyo, for the exhibition of "Fluxus extra vol.2" in October 2002. "From 1959 onwards, he [George Brecht] worked on the creation of Water Yam, a non-hierarchical box of script-partitions, which would be distributed in the form of multiples. The first edition, in 1962 was followed by others. The script-partitions, characteristic of the Fluxus spirit, were the medium for events such as the famous Drip Music [..]. In its second version, the statement is reduced to the proposition "Dripping". All are printed on cards the spectator-reader, who is free to interpret them or not, choosing to prefer the idea than its implementation." - English translation from "George Brecht.
