Descrizione
"The artist began his Signals work in the nineteen fifties exhibiting at, maybe even inspiring, David Medalla`s gallery of the same name and also appearing in the eponymous house journal. According to Unlimited this work was one of three made up of Series 2 which had two flash units controlling two single lamps and Series 3 composed of ...two flash units controlling one double and one single lamp... With its minimalist design and technological allure the work is most definitely part of what Lesley Jackson called the sixties look and yet these Signals have endured. Indeed, a recent article by the respected art critic and writer Yve-Alain Bois lauded these works stressing how ...Takis's Signals, 1964, blink at us as if trying to convey a message in Morse code sent from God knows where (Force Fields: Phases Of The Kinetic ArtForum, Nov, 2000)." - Maggs, "A Series 1 Signal"
