ABCDEFG

2015

© Jacopo Mazzonelli

By decomposing and blending instruments and musical languages, ABCDEFG by Jacopo Mazzonelli transforms sound into imagery, culminating in a metalinguistic operation. The artwork possesses the capability to translate music into a visual suggestion, delving into the intricacies of musical language. The artwork focuses on the musical gesture, a meta-language designed to guide and structure organized sound, in which isolating elements contribute to its formation.
In this piece, sound is invoked exclusively through pianos that have been modified to play only a single note. This modification maintains the essence of music, a constant presence ingrained in the very nature of these instruments.
