Soundscape

RATIO 3, 28E06

2012

For Ratio 3, the artist crafts a steel sound sculpture that incorporates the compression ratio between the volume of the rooms and that of the sculptures engraved on it. The sound itself originates from the acoustic resonance of empty spaces, namely empty auditoriums.
Attention to the visual aspect of the work is evident through the creation of a physical capsule, serving as a platform for the sculpture, and an orange cable designed to be visible. Within the capsule, an amplifier, powered by the cable, reproduces the sound with a slight compression compared to normal.
The resulting sound not only describes the distortion of space but is also distorted as it emanates from the capsule, contributing to a multisensory experience.
