60 Minutes, an artwork conceived by Ilenia Dusi in 2018, stands as a sophisticated art project comprising etchings, audio elements, and diary traces. Taking intoconsideration a specific hour each day of the week (from 5 to 6 p.m., Monday to Sunday), Dusi offers a multimedia transcription of that particular timeframe: the paper engravings serve as an abstract score for each day, the diary documents marked individual actions, and the accompanying headphones feature a melodic composition of daily sounds.
Dusi's work reflects a profound procedural inclination to capture time by externalizing it through tangible, visible, or directly experiential elements. The engravings, underlying thought matrices, notebook writings, and sound recordings all embody activities and mediums that allude to the idea of the passage of time as memory. Particularly noteworthy is the pivotal role played by sound—a simultaneously intangible and co-existent element interwoven with our every action. The compilation of notes thus transforms into a veritable soundscape, evolving from an individual and intimate recording of a moment in the past to a communal sharing process capable of evoking collective memories in the listener, like a musical Proustian madeleine.
