Urban Rhythm is a project derived from the artist's musical background. This initiative unfolded over four months as an urban exploration. During this time, the artist collected and composed the sounds and rhythms from 50 streets in the historic center of Bologna. This artwork involved personal visits, social research, various documentations, and more, all conducted amidst the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic. The culmination of this effort is a score and concert designed with the aim of immersing the audience in the essence of these rhythms. The project explores the dynamic relationship between work and society, the interaction between the public and the city, and the overall sense of life during this unique period.
The noise serves as a poignant descriptor, evoking the atmosphere of each location as if the place itself were communicating and narrating its own story to the audience, particularly during a time when even the typically bustling areas fell into silence. It was the very essence of the place striving to make itself heard.
